AFEELA gets PS Remote Play, so you can play your PlayStation 5 while parked

Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) says its AFEELA will add AFEELA PS Remote Play, allowing you to stream games from a PS5 or PS4 at home to the car’s built-in interface. SHM calls it the first vehicle to integrate PlayStation Remote Play directly into the in-vehicle infotainment system.

It’s an easy pitch for anyone who’s been killing time in the parking lot or standing in a long pickup line. According to SHM, the idea is to play games while the car is stationary or to entertain passengers on longer journeys by using the cabin display and audio system instead of a separate screen.

Before you imagine a flawless console-in-car experience, the company also points out the biggest obstacle: your connection. SHM says Remote Play requires at least 5 Mbps broadband, recommends 15 Mbps, and warns that the feature may not be available depending on network conditions.

Remote Play, now integrated

Remote Play works by running the game on your home console and sending the video stream to another device while your control loops back over the internet. According to SHM, AFEELA turns the car into a “different device” by integrating PS Remote Play into the IVI system.

Some key practical details are still missing, including how you log in, what the controller setup looks like, and whether SHM locks it for use only when parked. Until that’s clear, consider it an idle convenience feature and not something intended for the driver’s seat in motion.

The promise and the bottleneck

If you already own a PS5 or PS4, the advantage is obvious: your library can follow you without having to lug around the console. It also fits with SHM’s broader strategy to sell AFEELA for cabin technology and experiences.

But streaming is picky. Even if you can get 15Mbps, inconsistent coverage can still result in stuttering, dropped sessions, or a feature that simply won’t start where you need it most.

Next deliveries and what you need to pay attention to

SHM links the announcement to AFEELA 1, which is scheduled to begin delivery in California in 2026. Then Remote Play stops being a show floor demo and starts being judged based on everyday reliability.

When tracking AFEELA PS Remote Play, look for confirmations about Parked Only rules, supported controllers, pairing steps, and any limitations related to data quality. For now, the practical step is simple: assume that your signal is as important as your console.
