A new report from iPhone-ticker.de says accessory makers are already gearing up for Apple’s first foldable iPhone, and it contains the most concrete Apple foldable iPhone dimensions we’ve seen yet. The website claims to have received CAD drawings and measurements related to an internal project called V68, with a timeline pointing to September 2026.
At face value, this is a foldable device that relies on a different carrying compromise than a regular iPhone. When folded, it’s 83.8 mm (3.30 inches) wide, 120.6 mm (4.75 inches) tall, and 9.6 mm (0.38 inches) thick, a short, wide pad that fits comfortably in the hand but is also harder to miss in your front pocket.
A wide, stocky, closed profile
The folded width of 83.8 mm (3.30 inches) is the main specification. It’s the number that determines whether one-handed use is comfortable or cramped, and whether the phone sits flat in tighter pants or looks like a small wallet.
The leak specifies a cover display diagonal of 139.4 mm (5.49 inches) and a resolution of 2,088 x 1,422. Combined with the 120.6mm (4.75-inch) folded height, it reads like a cover screen intended for quick interactions, rather than a tall, familiar iPhone layout. Compare these dimensions to the best foldable devices currently available.
Why it opens like a mini tablet
Open it up and the proportions look intentional. The unfolded case is 167.6 mm (6.60 inches) x 120.6 mm (4.75 inches), the inner display measures 197.1 mm (7.76 inches) and the resolution is 2,713 x 1,920.
The report compares this idea to the iPad mini, which has a 210.8 mm (8.3-inch) display and measures 195.4 mm (7.69 inches) by 134.8 mm (5.31 inches). In other words, the large closed footprint can cost the price of a squarer, small tablet screen when open.
Thin open but the bump is important
The CAD details also suggest that Apple is aiming for a smaller thickness when unfolded: 4.8 mm (0.19 inches), excluding the camera bump. This caveat works because the bump affects the wobble of the table, the volume of the case, and how “thin” it feels in practice.
For comparison: iPhone-ticker.de compares this with an iPhone Air with 5.64 mm (0.22 inches), while Samsung’s current Galaxy Fold is listed with 4.2 mm (0.17 inches). The drawings shown also suggest a dual rear camera and an inner selfie camera integrated into the display, but do not clarify whether there is a notch-style cutout.
