Chinese newcomers achieve top marks in terms of security

The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) released its latest round of safety assessments just before Christmas Haval H7, MG7 And MG ZS All receive five-star reviews.

The new MG 7 Liftback from MG is just coming onto the market. ANCAP reports that the new midsize car “performed well in crash tests” and offers “a comprehensive range of standard active safety technologies.”

Meanwhile, the MG ZS rating for vehicles built from December 4, 2025 has been increased from four to five stars.

MG recently confirmed the introduction of a front-center airbag across the range from said build date, increasing the Chinese crossover’s adult occupant rating from 75 percent to 81 percent, which also adds a fifth star to its safety rating.

“ANCAP encourages all manufacturers to make safety improvements as part of their ongoing design updates, and MG deserves recognition for proactively improving the ZS,” said Carla Hoorweg, CEO of ANCAP.
