Bentley Bentayga recalled due to fire risk

The Bentley Bentayga Hybrid has conducted a nationwide product safety recall to address a potential fire hazard.

“Due to a hardware defect, the high-voltage battery may discharge while the vehicle is charging. In this case, it could overheat and cause a vehicle fire,” Bentley’s recall notice says.

“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders and/or property damage.”

This latest recall follows one in July 2020 of 102 Bentley V8 vehicles produced in 2018-2020, and a later recall in August 2023 affecting 159 Bentley W12 vehicles produced in 2015-2023 – both due to possible fuel leaks posing a fire risk.

  • In total 16 vehicles produced in 2023 are included in the recall
  • The list of vehicle identification numbers (VIN) is attached here
  • The original recall notice is attached here

Bentley says owners can continue to use their vehicles and will be contacted to arrange an appointment with their authorized dealer to have the vehicle software updated free of charge as soon as possible.

If you have any further questions, you can contact your local Bentley dealer or the company’s website.
