Chinese company Xpeng is tripling its Australian offering with new, higher quality electric vehicles

UPDATE, February 12, 2025 4:00 p.m.:Xpeng distributor TrueEV has confirmed that the upcoming G9L is an update to the existing G9, which has yet to be revealed. We have updated this article accordingly.

The local distributor for the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brand. Xpeng has set a specific launch date for further models in Australia.

TrueEV has made no secret that it plans to expand its offering beyond the G6 mid-size electric SUV, which debuted the Xpeng brand in Australia late last year. For example, the G9 large SUV and the X9 people mover have long been featured on the local website.

Now Xpeng has confirmed the release date not only for these flagships, but also for an updated version of the existing G6.

All three are scheduled to be offered for sale here in 2026.

In China, this model is offered with either a 235kW/450Nm single-motor front-wheel drive or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive electric drive, the latter featuring 235kW/450Nm front-wheel and 135kW/190Nm rear electric motors.

The people carrier features an 800V electrical architecture and air suspension, as well as a choice of 94.8 kWh and 105 kWh batteries. The claimed range is up to 740 km on the milder CLTC cycle.

Xpeng also recently launched an EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) version with a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine, a 63.3 kWh battery and a CLTC range of 452 km.
