From the big screen to your garage space.
For many of us who grew up obsessed with cars, it’s hard to deny that The Fast & the Furious has something to do with it. The franchise not only gave us big-screen action, but introduced an entire generation to a wild mix of cars that became icons in their own right, rolling pieces of entertainment history that continue to fuel our enthusiasm for all things automotive today. And while we all have a favorite film in the series, be it “The Fast & the Furious” (2001), which started the legacy, or the change of scenery with “Tokyo Drift” (2006), this nostalgia for the cars and the drivers will live on forever as a connection to car culture as a whole.
One of these iconic cars represents a heavily modified Mitsubishi Lancer Evo driven by the late Paul Walker, who played the role of undercover detective Brian O’Connor. Now considered one of the most influential movie cars ever to grace the big screen, the LRA Auto Museum and Sales team is proud to present the actual 2001 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII replacement car from 2 Fast 2 Furious as part of their impressive inventory of exotic cars for sale on Daily Sparkz.
While sourcing and obtaining a Mitsubishi Evo in perfect condition proves to be a near-impossible task in itself, this particular example takes its significance and celebrity status a step further with the odometer showing just 932 miles. That’s right, this isn’t just owning a piece of cinematic history, but also the opportunity to purchase a practically brand new Evolution VII. Its condition remains immaculate as it was primarily used for close-ups and detail shots and was never actually driven into scenes. The car was legally imported into the United States for the film, which was released to coincide with the debut of the Mitsubishi Evo on the U.S. market in 2003, and still wears the same bright green, blue and silver film livery.
Under the hood, the Evo VII houses its classic rally-derived 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a powerful little engine that delivers quick response, sharp throttle response and enough cinematic oomph to suit Brian O’Conner’s style. Power is delivered via a five-speed manual gearbox and Mitsubishi’s famous all-wheel drive system, giving the car a down-to-earth feel. Inside is all the early 2000s functionality, simple gauges, cozy Recaros and just enough technology to feel modern without losing the raw, analog charm, making it one of the more believable, truly enthusiast-friendly cars to ever wear the franchise’s hero colors.
