The 2026 Denza Z9 GT The electric grand tourer will make its Australian debut at the Melbourne Motor Show tomorrow and has been confirmed for local release in the third quarter of this year (July-September).
Pricing and full local specifications have yet to be announced, but the stylish Z9 GT electric grand tourer is aimed squarely at the Porsche Taycan with a three-motor powertrain and a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of just 2.7 seconds.
The Z9 GT will join the large plug-in hybrid off-road vehicles (PHEV) B5 and B8, which were launched late last year, and the electric people mover D9, which launched in March as the new flagship of BYD’s luxury brand Denza.

It will be the first fully electric vehicle (EV) sold in Australia with BYD’s next-generation Blade Battery 2.0 technology and ultra-fast flash charging.
The first flash charging stations at select Denza dealers in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide are expected to become operational in the fourth quarter of 2026.
With a maximum DC fast charging capacity of 1500 kW, the Z9 GT’s battery can be charged from 10 to 97 percent in about nine minutes, according to Denza.
Denza Australia has confirmed a CLTC range of no less than 1036km and the fact that we’ll be getting the upgraded powertrain announced in China in February, producing a massive 850kW of power – 140kW more than the pre-update model.
In the Chinese market, it has a 230 kW electric motor at the front and two 310 kW units at the rear, powered by a large 122,496 kWh battery. The previous model has a 100.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit with a range of up to 630 km.
However, for now Australians will not be offered a rear-wheel drive version with 370 kW of power, nor the PHEV version of the Z9 GT sold in China.
The PHEV version has a 152 kW turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and a 200 kW electric motor at the front and two 220 kW electric motors at the rear, for a total system output of 640 kW.
However, an improved version now has a larger 63.8 kWh battery (instead of 38.5 kWh), increasing the CLTC electric range from 201 km to 400 km.
The Z9 GT rides on the brand’s all-new e3 platform and will be the first vehicle to feature advanced DiSus-A air suspension, which, along with advanced software, is said to be able to handle a tire blowout at highway speeds.
The new Denza flagship was designed by more than 1200 designers and engineers and its opulent interior features high-quality Nappa leather upholstery for the seats that offer massage, ventilation and extended leg supports.
There’s also a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display, Devialet premium audio, ambient lighting with 128 color choices and a built-in refrigerator.
“The Denza Z9GT proves that electrification can deliver not only efficiency, but also thrilling performance, exceptional safety and true long-distance capability,” said Denza Australia Chief Operating Officer Mark Harland.
“Australia is a market that demands performance without compromise and the Z9GT has been designed to meet or exceed expectations.”
No further details have been confirmed for Australia, but in China the Z9 GT is available with up to two on-board refrigerators and a 26-speaker sound system.
In the UK, it comes with a 17.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen and two additional 13.2-inch screens – for the driver and front passenger – as well as rear-wheel steering that allows for tight U-turns and “crab walks” in tight spaces.
Measuring 5,195 mm long, 1,990 mm wide and 1,490 mm high on a 3,125 mm wheelbase, the Z9 GT is 221 mm longer overall than the Taycan Cross Turismo, as well as 23 mm wider and 78 mm lower.
Pricing for the Australian Z9 GT isn’t clear yet, but the B8 is currently Denza’s most expensive model at $97,990 plus on-roads, while the Taycan Cross Turismo range starts at over $200,000.
While both the B5 and B8 SUVs for Australia are borrowed from BYD’s Fangchengbao brand, the Z9 GT is a 100 percent Denza model.
