2026 Denza Z9 GT: 850kW electric GT confirmed for Australia

The 2026 Denza Z9 GT The electric grand tourer will make its Australian debut at the Melbourne Motor Show tomorrow and has been confirmed for local release in the third quarter of this year (July-September).

Pricing and full local specifications have yet to be announced, but the stylish Z9 GT electric grand tourer is aimed squarely at the Porsche Taycan with a three-motor powertrain and a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of just 2.7 seconds.

The Z9 GT will join the large plug-in hybrid off-road vehicles (PHEV) B5 and B8, which were launched late last year, and the electric people mover D9, which launched in March as the new flagship of BYD’s luxury brand Denza.

It will be the first fully electric vehicle (EV) sold in Australia with BYD’s next-generation Blade Battery 2.0 technology and ultra-fast flash charging.

The first flash charging stations at select Denza dealers in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide are expected to become operational in the fourth quarter of 2026.

With a maximum DC fast charging capacity of 1500 kW, the Z9 GT’s battery can be charged from 10 to 97 percent in about nine minutes, according to Denza.
