The Toyota Corolla will launch in 2026 with some minor pricing and specification changes, as well as a redesigned sedan range following the axing of the flagship ZR.
A Toyota Australia spokesperson confirmed this Daily Sparkz that “in 2024, the ZR class accounted for just 2.4 percent of total Corolla sedan sales, prompting a review of the lineup,” leaving the Ascent Sport and SX as the only remaining sedans.
As a result, Toyota’s hybrid-only hatchback and sedan lineup has been reduced to five variants, with the remaining two sedans now $265 more expensive than they were at the start of 2025. Prices for the three hatchback models remain the same.
The increased premium for the remaining sedans isn’t possible without additional equipment, as all sedans now feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster (up from 4.2 inches) and Android Auto wireless connectivity. Previously, the 12.3-inch display was only available in the Corolla ZR, while Android Auto was only wired across the entire model range.

The changes mean there is now some separation between the Corolla sedans and hatchbacks. A 7.0-inch digital instrument display remains standard in the Ascent Sport and SX hatches, while the 12.3-inch unit is reserved for the ZR.
Only wired Android Auto connectivity is available across the sedan range, but wireless Apple CarPlay is standard on both sedans and sedans.
The series continues to be powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline hybrid powertrain that produces a peak power of 103 kW – Toyota does not provide a combined torque value. Drive is transmitted to the front wheels via a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
The Corolla Hybrid is still a long way from the high-performance GR Corolla – although not as far as the smaller Yaris Hybrid and GR Yaris – which is due an update in early 2026 with a stiffer body, better endurance performance and an improved sound system.
