Chery’s own Jetour The brand will soon launch in Australia. Their official debut will take place in Sydney at the end of May, following new hires across all sales and marketing departments.
In an email, Jetour invited guests to the launch of its “smart SUVs in Australia” at the Sydney Opera House at the end of May, with a similar event scheduled to take place in Melbourne shortly afterwards.
The Jetour name was trademarked in Australia in late 2024, before a recruitment campaign for sales, marketing and back-office roles began earlier this year and the Chinese carmaker invited Australian journalists to the Beijing Motor Show in April.
There’s no confirmation on which Jetour SUVs will launch locally, meaning pricing and sales expectations are yet to be announced ahead of the brand’s official launch within two months.

A Chery Australia spokesperson confirmed this Daily Sparkz It will not be involved in importing Jetour vehicles, a move that reflects the brand’s structure in other markets such as South Africa and Malaysia.
The independence of Chery and Omoda Jaecoo also means that Jetour will not use the existing Chery dealer network, which currently has around 80 locations and is expected to grow to 100 by the end of this year.
Jetour operates in more than 100 countries and delivered 622,590 vehicles worldwide in 2025, accounting for just over 22 percent of Chery Auto Group’s total sales of 2,806,393.
Globally, the brand offers eight SUVs – four passenger-focused models and four more rugged models for off-road and adventure buyers.
Right-hand drive production began in 2024 for several key models, including the Dashing compact SUV, the T-Series midsize SUV (T1 and T2) and the seven-seat X70 Plus, now on sale in South Africa.
Australia is expected to receive similar models from the right-hand drive production pool.
The T2 is the most popular of these in South Africa. It is a five-door off-road SUV positioned as a competitor to the GWM Tank 300 and features a boxy design, a wheelbase of 2800 mm, an overall length of 4785 mm (including the spare wheel cover) and a ground clearance of 220 mm.
Versions for the South African market are offered in three grades – Aspire, Xplora and Odyssey – with entry-level variants powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 125kW of power and 270Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and two-wheel drive.
The mid and top variants feature a more powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 180kW and 375Nm, paired with all-wheel drive and a braked towing capacity of 1600kg.
A plug-in hybrid powertrain (PHEV) is offered in China, combining a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (115kW/220Nm) with two electric motors for a total output of 447kW/910Nm as well as all-wheel drive.
The South African models feature leatherette seat upholstery, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch central infotainment touchscreen, as well as 50W wireless mobile phone charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other features include a glass sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control and a power tailgate, although autonomous emergency braking (AEB), which is mandatory on all new vehicles sold in Australia, is only standard on higher trim levels.
The T1 has the same underpinnings and powertrains as the T2 but is positioned at a lower price, while the elegantly designed Dashing is the cheapest model in the current Jetour range.
While Jetour has the stated goal of “becoming the world’s leading off-road brand,” reports from CarNewsChina suggest it is also developing a plug-in hybrid ute as a potential competitor to the GWM Cannon already on offer here.
Chery Australia is also preparing to launch a diesel plug-in hybrid ute, currently codenamed “KP31”, which is expected to launch later this year with a more consumer-friendly logo, after the company recently launched a campaign asking the public to christen it.
