2026 Mazda CX-5 priced for Australia

Australian prices and initial specifications for the new generation 2026 Mazda CX-5 have been announced and the all-new mid-size SUV range is now available to order ahead of its launch in mid-2026.

Since the CX-5’s debut over a decade ago, more than 325,000 examples of the CX-5 have been sold in Australia – more than five million have been sold worldwide – and the model has been the Japanese brand’s best seller for the past seven years running. So it’s obviously a very, very important product for Mazda.

For 2026, the new CX-5 range wants to pay particular attention to value. While prices have technically increased, equipment levels have also risen across the range, with petrol engine and all-wheel drive standard across the range from launch.

The naming of the third-generation CX-5 variants has been brought in line with the rest of the Mazda range and five trim levels are offered – as with the previous range.

Prices start at $39,990 plus on-road costs for the entry-level CX-5 Pure, a few thousand more than the $37,990 drive-away price of its predecessor CX-5 G20 Maxx, while the flagship Akera costs from $54,990 plus ORCs.

As previously confirmed, the 2026 Mazda CX-5 will launch with one powertrain – the 2.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine ‘G25’, producing 132kW of power and 242Nm of torque and driving all four wheels via a six-speed automatic as standard.

Despite increasing pressure from the Federal Government’s New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) to reduce CO2 emissions, the CX-5 G25 AWD claims fuel consumption of 7.4L/100km on the combined cycle, with CO2 emissions estimated at 173g/km. For reference, the upper limit for Type 1 passenger cars in 2026 under the NVES is approximately 110g/km.

Mazda Australia has confirmed the launch of a new CX-5 Hybrid for sometime in 2027, which will introduce the brand’s new ‘Skyactiv-Z’ petrol engine, which features a range of new technologies to optimize performance And Efficiency.
