2027 Skoda Elroq: Sporty new variant to the Australian model range

SkodaThe celebrations for its 130th birthday may be coming to an end, but the Czech automaker isn’t ready to turn on the lights and turn off the music just yet.

The 130th anniversary commemorative version of the Elroq electric SUV is due to be phased out later this year, but will be replaced by another new variant for the Australian market.

The variant is this Elroq Sportlinean equipment variant that has been used on countless modern Skoda models. It’s set to appear later this year, but Skoda hasn’t given a more specific launch date.

Replacing the current flagship 130 Years, the Sportline is expected to feature the same rear-mounted 210kW/545Nm electric motor powered by an 82kWh lithium-ion battery. It travels approximately 529km between charges and can charge up to 135kW when connected to a DC charger.

However, unlike the 130 Years, the Sportline features black exterior elements, a similarly dark interior with sporty accents and a few select changes to enhance the driving experience.

From the outside, the Sportline is distinguished by its glossy black side mirrors, window trim and roof rails. The blackout treatment also extends to the front spoiler, rear diffuser and the Skoda lettering on the bonnet and tailgate.

Inside, the theme continues with black “Suedia” and faux leather upholstery, sportier front seats, a three-spoke steering wheel and aluminum pedal covers.

Proper performance upgrades are reserved for the upcoming Elroq RS, but the Sportline should have improved handling thanks to its lowered stance and “progressive” steering.
