Spotify has been constantly updating lately, and the streaming service has now announced a major visual overhaul of its Wear OS app, focusing on cleaner graphics and easier navigation.
What’s new in the Spotify Wear OS redesign?
The updated Spotify app for Wear OS introduces a cleaner, more intuitive interface based on swipe gestures. Opening the app takes you to the usual player view, but navigation now feels more fluid. Swiping down brings up a new music-first mode that puts album and artist art at the forefront, creating a more immersive visual experience.
The controls are also easier to use. You can tap to play or pause, or double-tap to skip tracks without having to wade through menus. Swiping up takes you straight to key sections like Home, Search, and Your Library, including downloaded content, making it easier to find something new or return to your favorites.
How does it improve control and discovery on your wrist?
Beyond playback, the update provides quick access to important controls. With a simple tap, you can manage your queue, set a sleep timer, or open a more detailed menu for actions like visiting an artist page or starting a radio station based on a song.
The focus here is on reducing friction. Instead of relying on your phone, you can browse, discover and control your listening sessions directly from your smartwatch with minimal effort.
The redesigned Spotify Wear OS experience will roll out via the Google Play Store in the coming days. Users must update to the latest version of the app to access the new features. Spotify plans to introduce more features to its Wear OS app in the coming months.
