Honda has introduced a new electric kei car, but it won’t only be available on the Japanese market.
The Honda Super OneUnveiled in prototype form at the Tokyo Motor Show this week, it will be exported to the UK (as Super-N) and unspecified markets in the Asia-Pacific region. The electric tiddler rollout will begin in 2026.
Honda has not yet officially confirmed the electric city car for the Australian market, where it could compete with a growing contingent of shrunken EVs including the Fiat 500e, Hyundai Inster, Jeep Avenger and the upcoming BYD Atto 1.

The Super One prototype is the near-production version of the stealthy Super EV concept seen at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The Super-One is a replacement of sorts for the Honda e, which Australia missed out on. It’s essentially a larger and more powerful version of the new Honda N-One e: – the new all-electric version of the Japanese brand’s best-selling kei car.
Honda has hardly released any technical details. However, it was promised that the Super-One was designed with a focus on driving engagement.
It will feature a Boost mode that not only increases power but also offers simulated gear changes and a soundtrack reminiscent of a gasoline-powered vehicle. Shades of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N then.
According to the Japanese automaker, a wider stance also ensures “stable and powerful handling.”
It also gives this boxy little city car a sportier look, enhanced by boxy fenders, red brake calipers and dark-painted alloy wheels.
Functional air channels at the front and rear also contribute to aerodynamics and cooling.
Inside, there are eye-catching white and blue fabric upholstery on black fabric draped over chunky sports seats. The “horizontal orientation” of the dashboard is intended to “reduce visual noise” and open the driver’s field of vision “to focus more on driving.”
Honda has not released dimensions for the Super One, but it is expected to be well under four meters long.
Kei cars are a category of tiny vehicles popular in the Japanese market due to their affordable prices and running costs. They must all fit into a footprint that is 3.4 m long, 1.48 m wide and 2.0 m high. Kei cars with internal combustion engines must have an engine with a displacement of 660 cc or less.
While Kei class cars are not a thing in Australia – at least if you ignore gray imports – we have received various models offered as Kei cars in Japan over the years. These include the Suzuki Jimny, Wagon R and Alto as well as the Daihatsu Move.
