Italian car designer Pininfarina collaborated with a budget phone maker and the result is stunning

Luxury car designers and budget smartphones are not typically used in the same sentence. But that’s exactly what happened when Infinix partnered with Italian design firm Pininfarina. If that name sounds familiar, it’s the studio behind some of the world’s most famous sports cars.

The collaboration will debut with the upcoming Infinix Note 60 Ultra, a device that ushers in a new premium design direction for the brand.

The Ferrari design DNA behind the phone

Pininfarina is one of the most well-known names in automotive design. The Italian studio has spent decades sculpting iconic cars like the Ferrari Testarossa and the Alfa Romeo Spider. Now this design expertise is finding its way into smartphones. The Infinix Note 60 Ultra will be the first phone to be developed under this partnership. While the company hasn’t yet revealed full design details of this phone, the goal is clear: precision engineering and premium craftsmanship in a category that typically values practicality over aesthetics.

A supercar-inspired design with no camera bump

Modern smartphones often struggle with bulky camera modules as sensors continue to get larger. Infinix rises to the challenge with a fully integrated aluminum unibody design that creates a smooth back. The brand calls this the world’s first uni-chassis camera module made from a single continuous panel of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The result is a phone with a sleek and uninterrupted silhouette, similar to the finishes found on performance cars.

Here’s what it offers

The Note 60 Ultra features MediaTek’s Dimensity 8400 Ultimate chipset with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. A huge 7,000mAh silicon Cabron battery powers this device, but what really stands out is the new battery self-healing technology. The system can restore up to 1% of battery status every 200 charge cycles. Charging is equally impressive with 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support.

Infinix’s latest premium phone runs on the Android 16 operating system-based custom skin XOS 16 out of the box and promises three major Android updates and five years of security patches. The phone features a triple camera setup with a 200MP Samsung HPE main sensor, a 50MP Samsung JN5 periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom, and an ultra-wide angle lens.

One of the more unusual features for a smartphone in this segment is two-way satellite communication with support for satellite calling and messaging. This allows users to stay connected even in areas without traditional cellular coverage, which is particularly useful during long-distance travel or in emergency situations. Other key features include a 144Hz display, JBL sound and eSIM support.

Infinix also packages the device with a luxury automotive-style gift box that includes:

  • A supercar-inspired MagCharge base
  • Kevlar MagPad
  • Kevlar MagCase
  • Track edition SIM ejector pin

Finally, there are four color variants inspired by Italian motorsport, namely Torino Black, Monza Red, Amalfi Blue and Roma Silver.
