Price and specifications of the 2026 Suzuki Vitara Hybrid

The Suzuki Vitara has swapped its turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine for a new 48V mild-hybrid turbo-petrol powertrain.

The updated small SUV range is available to order now priced at $38,990 (before on-road costs) or $39,990 (off-road).

As with the smaller mild-hybrid model Swift and the light SUV Fronx, Suzuki is marketing this new electrified model as a “hybrid”.

Although it can’t be powered purely electrically like full hybrids, the Vitara Hybrid has an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery that help with acceleration, reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Energy is also recovered when braking and stored in the battery.

With fuel consumption of 5.8L/100km or 5.9L/100km with all-wheel drive, the Vitara Hybrid is barely more efficient than its turbocharged predecessor, which consumed 5.9L/100km with front-wheel drive and 6.2L/100km with all-wheel drive.

However, the power has fallen – from 110 kW to 81 kW, although the maximum torque has increased from 220 Nm to 235 Nm – at the same time as the price has increased. The outgoing Vitara Turbo started at $36,490 auto, and the Vitara Turbo Allgrip was $41,490 auto.

The Vitara Hybrid will not be offered in Queensland or the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, where Suzuki Auto Co handles distribution of the Japanese small car brand.

The Sunshine State dealer has opted not to import the model – despite Suzuki Australia offering it elsewhere in the country – leaving Suzuki Queensland with just three models in the Swift, Fronx and Jimny.
