ST-L variants and above get an updated Around View Monitor surround camera system that includes a new see-through “Skeleton Hood” view and a “Multi View” angle for T-joints.
A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system is now standard on the base ST, features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and replaces an 8.0-inch unit, while the ST-L gets leather-accented upholstery, replacing leatherette, as well as 10-way power-adjustable front seats.
Rain-sensing wipers are also now standard across the range, although unlike its updated cousin, the Mitsubishi Outlander, there are still no ventilated front seats, even on the top-of-the-line Ti-L.
The lineup is virtually the same for 2026, aside from the disappearance of the tougher-looking N-Trek variants.
That means ST, ST-L, Ti and Ti-L trim levels, a choice of petrol or e-Power series hybrid powertrains, a choice of front- or all-wheel drive, and five- or seven-seat configurations.
As before, Nissan Australia will not offer the e-Power powertrain in a seven-seat configuration, although it is offered overseas. An interior with seven seats is provided for the all-wheel drive versions of the gasoline-powered ST and ST-L models.
The LED lighting signatures are new for the 2026 model year (MY26), as are the bumper designs and front grille insert.
New exterior paint finishes – Deep Ocean Blue and Everest White – join the palette, while the Ti-L’s optional tan interior has been replaced with a new chestnut color.
All X-Trails with black interiors now have, well, a black interior – the pre-update model’s unusual two-tone brown and black dashboard and door design is gone, while a new steering wheel is standard across the range.
Nissan Australia has not mentioned whether it intends to offer the rugged new Rock Creek trim level offered in Japan, but has ruled out the sportier Nismo variant, which is currently exclusive to the Japanese domestic market.

Drives and efficiency
There are no changes to the powertrain for MY26.
While the petrol-powered Nissan X-Trail comes with a conventional drivetrain as standard, the e-Power is a bit more complex.
Its gasoline engine is coupled to a motor generator and an inverter that is used to charge the lithium-ion battery pack that powers the electric drive motors.
