Suzuki has published details about it and Vitara – its first electric vehicle (EV) here and a competitor to the Hyundai Kona Electric, Kia EV3 and BYD Atto 3 – ahead of its scheduled arrival in local showrooms in June 2026.
The Indian-made e Vitara is based on the ‘Heartect-e’ platform – co-developed with Toyota – and is sold here in two model grades: the front-wheel drive e Vitara Motion and the all-wheel drive Ultra, with Suzuki Queensland offering two powertrains for the Ultra while Suzuki Australia powers just one.
Pricing and full details are yet to be announced – the e Vitara is available in the UK from just £26,249 ($A$50,424), similarly priced to the Kona Electric and Kia EV3, which are priced in Australia from $47,600 and $54,000 before on-road costs respectively.

Both model variants of the five-seat and five-door e Vitara are 4275 mm long, 1800 mm wide and 1635 mm high with a wheelbase of 2700 mm (the distance between the front and rear axles).
The entry-level Motion has a single 106kW/193Nm motor driving the front wheels and a 49kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a claimed range of 344km (WLTP). Direct current (DC) fast charging allows the vehicle to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 45 minutes.
All models feature a heat pump as standard, which Suzuki says helps optimize battery performance.
The upscale Ultra has a second motor – one on each axle – enabling all-wheel drive with a higher output of 135 kW/307 Nm. The claimed range is 395 km thanks to a larger 61 kWh LFP battery.
Suzuki Queensland, which distributes the brand in northern New South Wales and Queensland, will offer a front-wheel version of the Ultra that combines the larger 61kWh battery with the lower power motor and offers a WLTP range of 426km.
The Motion’s standard equipment includes:
- 18-inch alloy wheels

Some features of the British versions are missing, such as larger 19-inch alloy wheels.

- Multi-collision braking
- Rear cross traffic warning

In Europe, it carries a four-star rating from safety regulator Euro NCAP. An ANCAP rating is not yet available.
“The e Vitara marks a defining moment for Suzuki, it is our first battery-electric vehicle and a clear signal of how we are evolving as a brand while remaining true to the values that have always defined Suzuki – efficiency, reliability and everyday usability,” Michael Pachota, general manager of Suzuki Australia, said in a statement.
