The Bentley X concept was “designed to encourage owner feedback” on whether there is a market for an off-road model Bentayga.
The X Concept was presented at the FAT Ice Race in Zell am See in Austria and is based on the fastest variant in the Bentayga range, the Speed.
The concept adopts the Speed’s 478kW/850Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, mated to an eight-speed automatic, all-wheel drive and a 48V electric active anti-roll system.

To improve suspension travel, the X Concept’s ride height has been raised by 55mm, increasing ground clearance to 310mm. Bentley says fording depth is now over 550mm.
Compared to the standard Speed, the X Concept is a noticeably wider and meaner beast. The track width of the car was increased by 120 mm, which required 40 mm wider wheel arches all around.
Underneath the flared black arches are Radar Renegade R/T+ 285/50 tires with 22-inch Brixton one-piece forged wheels.
The radiator grille, sills and lower parts of the bumper were blackened. Two dark blue towing eyes protrude from the front, while an Akrapovic titanium exhaust can be seen at the rear.
A storage tray with four integrated headlights was installed on the roof, increasing the overall height of the vehicle to 2.49 m. For the concept’s debut in Austria, the tray houses an electric go-kart.
There’s no indication yet as to when Bentley will decide whether to move forward with a more off-road version of the Bentayga.
