The Volvo EX60 has been unveiled as a new mid-size electric SUV that serves as a battery-powered counterpart to the popular XC60.
It sits between the EX30 and EX40 small electric SUVs and the flagship EX90 and introduces the Chinese-Scandinavian automaker’s new SPA3 platform.
The EX60 is expected to arrive in Australia in late 2026 or early 2027, depending on the variant. A performance variant is expected to be available for sale here in mid-2027.
Unlike some other Volvos sold here, the EX60 will come from the brand’s home country of Sweden, rather than China.

Volvo hasn’t confirmed pricing yet, warning that initial factory quantities will be “somewhat limited.”
There are three batteries and three powertrains to choose from, including single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive configurations that wear out P6, P10 AWD And P12 AWD Name tags.
All EX60s have a bi-directional charging capability of 22 kW, depending on the country.
Each powertrain will be available in either Plus or Ultra trim, with the entry-level Core grade launching later.
Volvo will also offer the EX60 in a more robust Cross-Country version, which has a wider track, sits 20mm higher and features air suspension that can raise the vehicle a further 20mm; At higher speeds, the vehicle can lower itself to reduce air resistance.
The EX60 Cross Country also features unique wheel arch trim and upper door moldings, as well as exclusive Frost Green exterior paint, stainless steel skid plates and embossed Cross Country lettering in the front and rear bumpers.
Under the hood, the EX60 features a double wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear suspension. Frequency-selective dampers, hydraulic shock absorbers, anti-roll bars and coil springs are present at both the front and rear.
Here’s a breakdown of the powertrains and batteries:

Here’s a look at how the EX60 compares to the existing XC60.

According to Volvo, there is 523 liters of trunk space including storage space under the floor, and with the second row folded down it’s even 998 liters. These figures increase to 634 liters and 1647 liters respectively when the cargo volume is measured up to the roof.
There is also storage space under the hood with a volume of 58 to 85 liters.
Thanks to details like the Thor’s Hammer LED headlights, vertical dual-level taillights and distinctive (and angular) shoulders, the EX60 is recognizably part of the Volvo EV range.
Inside there is a minimalist interior with no conventional switches. There’s a large landscape-format infotainment touchscreen and a slim, high-mounted digital instrument cluster.
There is storage space in the center console, there is also a two-level center console, a large fixed glass roof and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
The EX60 is the first Volvo to be manufactured using the mega-casting process. It involves replacing hundreds of smaller parts with larger castings made from recycled aluminum to improve production efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing.
Volvo says the SPA3 platform is ready for continuous hardware and software improvements. The EX60 uses Volvo’s Superset tech stack, a single set of hardware and software modules that will be used in all future electric Volvos.
It uses a Qualcomm 8255 CPU for ultra-fast processing, which Volvo says has enabled it to offer Google Gemini integrated with “lag-free, conversation-based AI” support.
With the EX60, Volvo’s electric vehicle range has grown to seven models: the EX30, EX40 and EX90 SUVs offered here, as well as the recently dropped EC40 from the local range, the recently added ES90 large liftback and the China-exclusive EM90 people mover.
The size is similar not only to the XC60 mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid range, but also to the XC70 plug-in hybrid crossover that was introduced for China last year.
