According to Subaru, the Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS) works very similarly to Volkswagen Group’s well-documented Emergency Assist.

If the driver no longer reacts while driving, EDSS brings the vehicle to a “controlled stop and at the same time warns other road users”.

To activate the new safety feature, the lane centering function, which is also standard, must be active.

While the Crosstrek is now available in Japan with an S:HEV “Strong Hybrid” system that adopts Toyota technology, the more efficient powertrain is not yet confirmed for the Australian market.
