Some of today’s biggest stars started their careers in films of the ’80s. This is one of those films that helped make countless unknowns into big stars. Let’s talk about it Mystical pizza.
#1 – The restaurant became a tourist attraction
While there is actually a Mystic Pizza in Mystic, Connecticut, an entirely new restaurant had to be built for filming. The set was built in an old house converted into a warehouse and office (the Garbo Building) on Water Street in Stonington Borough. The film’s success transformed the small town parlor into a major tourist attraction and following the film’s success, the actual restaurant redesigned its interior to match the film setting. On their website, they note that menus were constantly disappearing and traffic on Main Street was impacted by fans standing in the street trying to get the perfect photo.
#2 – You probably recognize the entire cast from something else
Let’s go through the list. You know Julia Roberts Pretty womanNaturally. It’s hard to say where you know Annabeth Gish from because she’s been in so many things, although none of them were big roles or hits. I always think about it shag And Double jeopardy. The same goes for Lili Taylor, who was there Six feet under and the incantation Series. She also plays the lead role Daredevil: Rebornnext to her Mystical pizza Love interest Vincent D’Onoforio. I can’t help but imagine him as the alien Men in Black. The pizza shop owner, Leona, is played by Conchata Ferrell, who is probably best known for Two and a half men.
#3 – Introducing Matt Damon
Matt Damon made his screen debut in the film as Charlie Windsor’s brother Steamer. Apparently he beat out his pal Ben Affleck for the role. Both impressed the casting director, but Damon got the role due to a legal technicality. Affleck was 15 and Damon was 17. This means he could legally take part in the scene’s night shoot when his mother was on set.
#4 – The scooter is a pleasure
If you’re part of Generation X, you know what a big deal it was to have a scooter in the ’80s. The most popular models in my hometown were Honda Spree, Honda Elite and Yamaha Riva Razz. Kat rides through Mystic on a Spree, delivering pizzas for her mother at the harbor, to her job as a babysitter and to her appearance at the seaport museum.
#5 – Mar-A-Lago makes a cameo appearance
When you see Kat and Daisy’s mother sleeping on the couch, an episode of is playing on the television Lifestyles of the rich and famous. The episode is about the opulence of Mar-a-Lago, which was already owned by Trump at the time. He bought it in 1985.
Mystical pizza Siskel and Ebert received two thumbs up, calling it a well-acted coming-of-age story that will be remembered for its presentation of future stars.
