2027 GWM Haval H6: Larger new generation mid-size SUV announced for Australia

The current one GWM Haval H6 Even though they have only recently been updated, a new generation is already waiting for our market.

GWM’s Haval brand in China offers a larger crossover SUV under the H6L (petrol-powered) and Xiaolong Max (plug-in hybrid powertrain) nameplates, due to launch in Australia in early 2027.

The new H6 was first launched in China in 2023 Daily Sparkz In 2024 it was reported to have been sent to Australia as an H6 replacement. GWM Australia then introduced a revised version of the existing H6 in 2025, which had been unveiled for China in April 2024, after initially ruling out the update.

The brand is now considering whether it will continue to offer petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drives in the new model generation given the stricter emissions standards down under.

Until the recent rise in fuel prices, Haval H6 sales were evenly split between electrified and non-electrified powertrains.

The new generation model is a larger vehicle than the current H6, measuring 4780mm long, 1895mm wide and 1730mm high with a wheelbase of 2800mm – that’s 77mm long, 9mm wide and 62mm wheelbase.

For comparison: a Kia Sorento is 4815 mm long, 1900 mm wide and 1700 mm high with a wheelbase of 2815 mm.

Despite the larger footprint, the trunk volume drops from 560 to 436 liters compared to the previous model, which is probably due to the slimmer tailgate.
