Volkswagen Golf, Tiguan and Tayron recalled

Volkswagen Group Australia (VGA) is recalling 5931 Golf hatchbacks, Tiguan and Tayron SUVs to fix a software issue that could affect the electric power steering system.

“Due to a software issue, the electric power steering system may be temporarily inoperative under certain driving conditions,” VGA said in its recall notice.

“In this case, the steering remains functional. However, the driver may feel a noticeable increase in steering force, particularly when cornering.

“A sudden increase in steering effort could increase the risk of an accident and result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

In July 2025, a separate recall was issued for the 2018-2019 Tiguan Allspace – the Tayron’s predecessor – due to a defect in its curtain airbags.
