The Great Gatsby is The Bees Knees and you can’t miss it!

If The Great Gatsby taught us anything, it’s that the ’20s really boomed! But as the touring Broadway musical arrives in Austin this week, our question is: Will the touring production shine as well as the Broadway show? Spoiler alert: the answer is yes.

The Great Gatsby is The Bees Knees and you can’t miss it!

One of my biggest concerns with touring productions is whether the stage spectacle will be scaled down for the tour. It is often like that. But luckily that’s not the case with The Great Gatsby. In a word: the props are outstanding! From champagne bubbles to sparklers and fireworks, this show is truly classy, glittering and glamorous.

And the cast is hot-blooded too! Honestly, this is one of the best touring line-ups I’ve ever seen. There is not a wilted daisy in the bouquet. Speaking of Daisy: Senzel Ahmady embodies the role with style, grace and a fabulous voice. Leanne Robinson’s portrayal of Jordan Baker is equally impressive, while both male leads also have stunning voices! It’s no surprise that both Jake David Smith and Joshua Grosso played Marius in Les Miserables.

About The Great Gatsby

Based on the classic American novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the Tony Award®-winning musical is an unforgettable journey filled with love, wealth and tragedy. The Roaring Twenties come to life on stage, with stunning costumes and sets, stirring tunes and choreography that will make you want to throw your hands up and join in the Charleston right from your seat! In fact, I think I’ve seen someone actually do that. Kudos to the choreographer Dominique Kelley he worked with So you think you can dance, Dancing with the stars and more!
