The inside of the Smart #6the brand’s first sedan, was unveiled ahead of the new model’s debut at the 2026 Beijing Motor Show.
Smart, previously known for compact city cars, introduced the Toyota Camry-Size #6 late last year with striking yellow exterior, black accents and 19-inch wheels.
The price has yet to be announced. The production version is scheduled to be shown at the Beijing trade fair between April 24th and May 3rd before going on sale in China in mid-2026.
Australian importer LSH Auto has not confirmed whether the No. 6 will be offered locally, where it would join the No. 1 and No. 3 small SUVs and the upcoming No. 5 Smart mid-size SUV.

The #6 will be larger than the Smart #5 – due to be available in Australia in the second half of 2026 – measuring 4906mm long, 1840mm wide and 1508mm high.
This makes it similar in size to the Toyota Camry, which in Australia is 4920 mm long, 1840 mm wide and 1445 mm high.
However, when launched in China, the #6 will be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain Autocar A battery-electric version is also reportedly in development.
If confirmed, the EV variant would position the No. 6 as a rival to models like the Mazda 6e.
Inside, the No. 6 features a dual-screen layout, with the central infotainment display extending to the passenger side. Screen sizes have not yet been announced.
Nappa leather upholstery is offered in three color themes – Grid Yellow, Shadow Black and Wild Brown – with matching door panels. The dashboard is gray and the ambient lighting includes up to 800 light points with 256 selectable colors.
A ‘floating lift’ speaker sits on the dashboard as part of a 2000W 20-speaker Sennheiser sound system, while all models shown featured a panoramic roof.
The cabin also features a flat-bottom three-spoke steering wheel with integrated controls, as well as turbine-inspired vents and a few physical buttons to the left of the central display.
A split-lid center console, Mercedes-Benz-style door-mounted seat controls and central cup holders are also present – a reflection of Smart’s 50/50 ownership stake in Mercedes-Benz and Geely.
Power comes from a Geely-supplied plug-in hybrid system that combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and a rear-mounted electric motor, delivering a total output of 320kW.
Smart says the No. 6 can travel up to 285km on electric-only (CLTC), but battery details have yet to be confirmed. A similar system in the No. 5 PHEV uses a 41 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and supports fast charging up to 400 kW.
The brand is expanding into new segments but is encountering stumbling blocks with its larger vehicles.
Chinese outlet Yuan car reports that the brand’s current flagship, the No. 5, is proving to be a slow seller in China and has received significant discounts. According to reports, the No. 1 model, the brand’s entry-level model, accounts for around two-thirds of the brand’s sales in China.
Smart hasn’t given up on small cars, however, and a successor to its Fortwo electric city car was recently spotted in testing. It should bear the nameplate number 2.
