Patna: Delhi’s Rohit Baisoya shot a class-leading seven-under 65 to take the lead in round one at the INR 25 Lakh Alpha Sports Academy Golf Championship 2026 hosted by Patna Golf Club, the fourth event of the DP World PGTI NexGen 2026 season.
Bipin Mukhiya and Manoviraj Shekhawat took second place with a score of 68.
Vinay Kumar Yadav, the winner of last week’s NexGen, scored a hole-in-one on the first hole in his round of 72 to finish ninth.
Md Nawab was the highest ranked among the local professionals as he scored a 70 to secure fourth place.
Patna Golf Club is a par-72 nine-hole course where the nine holes are played twice to form a round.
Rohit Baisoya made four birdies and two bogeys on the front nine. He followed that up with a great back nine where he posted an eagle and three birdies. Rohit chipped an eagle from the bunker on the 13th and made two quality shots from the greenside bunkers for birdies on the 12th and 14th.
Rohit said, “I made all four par-5s count by scoring an eagle and three birdies on them. I hit a lot of fairways, which is crucial on this course. The stretch from the 12th to the 14th was special as I hit three excellent bunker shots there to bail myself out and grab an eagle and two birdies.”
