Much needed personal update – Daily Sparkz

I haven’t written a long personal blog post since Easter. Say something? I mean, I wrote about dropping our daughter off at college and her dorm room, but that didn’t describe what else was going on. (Check out her dorm HERE in case you missed it)

Things I observed

Why do I mention this? Because I think we can all use a little distraction these days. I know I’m happy with any good distraction from politics and also from my cat drama (more on that later).

I’ve been watching shows on YouTube about people buying abandoned places and fixing them up. Or unique new buildings. If I had a skilled husband, I would definitely do this too. I thought I’d share these YouTube channels with you and maybe you have some you can share with me and others I need to check out in the comments.

Some of these channels I’ve watched from the beginning and in every episode, others I’ve discovered over the years while watching the bundled time-lapse renovation.

Some of my favorite YouTube channels I’ve watched

There is a micro-trend called Aesthetics of the castle core also in trend this year. Read what Veranda has to say about the look at home.

My least favorite YouTube time-lapse I’ve ever seen:

Everything can’t be good, can it?!? These two guys “renovated” a castle and turned it into a hotel. The canal is called Château du Theil. I can’t stand how it looks on the insight. They didn’t go for the castle core look. (watch the time lapse HERE). Let me know what you think? I was shocked.

Other health problems in cats

So let’s get to the cat drama… Our black cat Walter almost died of a urinary tract blockage. I’m so glad I discovered it just in time and he was in the hospital for several days. Our vet thinks he’s so stressed about what’s happening in our yard with all the other cats. He’s been taking Prozac since early summer now, but it hasn’t really helped him much. He pulls out his fur a little less than before, but that’s it. He also takes special urine feed, which is very expensive.

Another desperate cat appeared in our garden

Now let’s talk about the cats outside. Remember, we took Frank in last year and he sleeps in our son’s bedroom. Frank has a wild white and gray friend who my husband calls Pretty. I had both repaired. We have other wild animals that come to eat, but I hardly see them.

Here are Frank and Pretty

Occasionally I would see this other cat that looked just like Pretty, but I noticed it was a tom. He kept coming over to eat, but he was very scared. One day as I was sitting in our garden working on my computer, out of the blue he came up to me and sat next to me. I guess he’s not wild after all, and I have no idea what happened that made him suddenly decide to make me his new best friend.

Now he doesn’t walk anymore and there is daily chaos and drama. I’ve written to rescue groups, but everyone is overwhelmed. Next week I finally got him an appointment to have him neutered. And there’s no way I’m just going to take him away and take him to a kill shelter where he’ll sit in a cage with an expiration date if he doesn’t get adopted.

I’m really tired of people telling me that he chose me and that we should keep him. Anyone who knows me knows I would if I could. He is such a cool, handsome cat with a very special personality.

Just look at him! We call him Jeff. Pretty has a spot on his nose that he doesn’t have, but the markings are so similar.

And before you ask: No, it doesn’t belong to any of the neighbors. Some of the people who live up the street told me that their only neighbor has an unfixed cat and that he keeps getting kittens that look exactly like these two white and gray cats. They told me that the cat had just recently had 8 more. It upsets me so much that no one will lock up this cat and get her and all her babies fixed.

Our next door neighbors also have a catio and you can see it here with one of their cats laying on it.

All the cats in my house have been upset and stressed since he arrived. Maya (who has cancer) keeps slamming her body against the sliding glass door when he sits there and looks in. It’s so fragile, but still gives full power. And he keeps looking everywhere because he wants to get in. One day he even managed to squeeze himself between my legs to get in. I panicked and luckily was able to grab him.

Frank can’t stand him and occasionally attacks him violently. One day he escaped into the tree and was almost hit by a car. And then Jeff turns around and attacks the woman. She’s terrified now. This new man needs to feel safe and not seem like he is constantly fighting for survival.

Ugh, I didn’t ask for that. It’s not like I went to the shelter and adopted another cat that I can’t take care of. And now that winter is approaching, I’m worried about this young guy. He urgently needs a home. However, I don’t think it is suitable for families with small children. I also don’t post it on Facebook and then get all sorts of questionable people contacting me.

I have certain friends and neighbors who would have been a perfect fit for him, but they all recently adopted them, right before he showed up. I want to give him a good home because he deserves it.

What else is new?

I’m going to Germany soon to see my family and I pray that my husband and son will take good care of all the cats.

I also discovered a lump under Frank’s armpit last night. My poor big boy.

What I have worked on or what I want to work on

Due to all the events (not just personal) I didn’t do much work on it, but I did manage to make a lighted ghost wreath and a few bats out of corn husks.

I’m hoping to find two Halloween costumes for our annual neighborhood Halloween party before my trip.

And over the summer I only managed to make a shell zipper pull, some macrame starfish, and a snail shell bracelet.

I would love to hear from you and how you are doing. Talk to you soon!

Bye,
