It’s starting to look like a real bedroom

Yesterday I completely tidied up the bedroom. After all the tools were put away, all the trash was packed up and taken out, and the floor was thoroughly cleaned, I was so excited to finally bring in the rug, nightstands, and fabric for the headboard.

The first thing I did when the carpet was installed was a big sigh of relief. I was worried that the orange would be too muted or dark orange and wouldn’t be able to keep up with the bold colors in my walk-in closet and the bold colors in the foyer.

Luckily there was no reason to worry. The carpet was much more vibrant than I remembered. Remember that the color of the upper wall is a substitute for the grass wallpaper.

The rug size is just perfect. It is 9′ x 12′ and the room is just under 15′ wide.

Last night I realized that I had planned in my mind to put two curtains on each of the windows on the headboard wall. In fact, I purchased enough fabric to put two panels on each of these windows. But in my model I only attached one panel to each window.

Not only did I purchase enough fabric for two panels per window, but I also purchased enough lining for two panels per window, enough trim for two panels per window, and enough curtain rings for two panels per window. And when I ordered the stuff, for some reason I never thought to go back to my model image to see what exactly I had planned. Well. Since I have the extra fabric, I could make the panels for these windows 1.5 wide so that they have the same fullness as the panels that go on the door.

I don’t have much room for a lot of fabric in these corners, but I think it will work.

I did install the outlet covers, but as you can see, I haven’t had time to paint them yet. Don’t worry. I will not have striped outlet covers in the finished room.

Okay, here’s a wide angle view of the rug, nightstands, and headboard fabric. The wall color looks a bit light. I hope the grass wallpaper appears more colorful.

And now I can hopefully choose a color for the dresser. You can see that the carpet has several shades of brown, brown and even greige.

And there are also some shades of brown and brown in the fabric of the headboard.

I like the idea of painting the dresser the color of the carpet or fabric in tan or greige, but part of me thinks that’s way too boring for me. Maybe I need to get the headboard made first and then even have the curtains made and installed and then I can see if that side of the room needs a color that’s subtle or dramatic. It might be too early to make that decision.

And I might as well wait for my recliner to get here. I was hoping it would be there by now, but it should arrive by November 11th at the latest.

Anyway, it’s fun to finally see some nice stuff here.

And Felicity seems okay with that too.
