If you’ve ever purchased a video recording kit, you’ve probably heard of SmallRig. The brand offers all kinds of accessories including camera cages, lights, tripods, phone cages, shoulder rigs, and action cameras, and the brand is at CES 2026 to push further into the audio space.
SmallRig already offers the Forevala U60 USB microphone and the S20 camera microphone and is now expanding its range with the brand new S70, which was officially launched at the technology conference in Las Vegas.
The SmallRig S70 is designed for on-site audio recording, but is specifically designed to solve common problems when recording vocals or instruments.
According to the company, the microphone was developed by analyzing real-world recording situations to understand potential issues. The S70 offers 9 recording presets to emulate the warmth of a studio recording setup and can compensate for different types of voices or musical instruments.
Finely tuned
To achieve this, SmallRig did not work alone, but developed the microphone in collaboration with Grammy-winning sound engineer Luca Bignardi.
This continues the company’s tradition of working with content creators to optimize its products. In the past, the company has created and released a tracking POV kit with YouTube channel Mikevisuals and an L-shaped mounting plate kit with publication LensVid.
These both come from SmallRig’s DreamRig projector, which launched in 2017 as a branch of the company that made customized camera accessories for professional users. This allows cinematographers and social media creators to design products that address specific issues or issues they have had, and with the personalized touch, they can create the videos they envisioned.
Since its inception, DreamRig has developed over 2,700 different accessories, many of which have eventually reached digital store shelves as products that anyone can purchase. That number keeps rising, as does the number SmallRig sells for everyone else to buy.
In 2024, the brand collaborated with Gene Nagata of YouTube channel Potato Jet to create the TRIBEX tripod, designed for easy and secure locking and smooth movements.
Together with Brandon Li, the company has also developed an all-in-one mobile video kit that combines a cage with a control module and an SSD enclosure to make phone videography simple and straightforward.
This process helps SmallRig’s accessories and products remain competitive for video producers as the brand listens to creators to address common pain points and problems and brings products to market that offer what they need.
By giving users the power to co-create the products they want but don’t yet exist, SmallRig can offer devices and solutions that don’t yet exist on the market.
Its further foray into the audio recording market promises to expand these capabilities into a new type of essential recording tool designed specifically for the user.
