2026 Nissan Qashqai: Hybrid-only model brings big price increase

Nissan Australia has confirmed pricing and initial details for its updated 2026 model Qashqai small SUV range offered exclusively with the latest version of the brand’s e-Power series hybrid powertrain.

The Nissan Qashqai MY26 is expected to arrive in local showrooms in March, bringing a base price rise of more than $10,000 to $45,640 plus on-road costs, following the removal of petrol-only variants and entry-level ST trim Down Under.

The highlight of the 2026 model year update is the widespread introduction of the improved e-Power hybrid drive, which is expected to reduce combined fuel consumption from 4.8 to 4.1 l/100 km and reduce CO2 emissions by almost 18 percent to just 92 g/km.

Nissan is also proud that the new e-Power 5-in-1 modular powertrain incorporates high-pressure cast aluminum components manufactured at the Japanese brand’s Australian foundry in Dandenong, Victoria.

The improved powertrain is also said to deliver a more refined ride, with the interior reportedly 5.6dB quieter than before, while also allowing for a power increase of over 10kW when Sport mode is selected.

Other updates for MY26 include a new entry-level ST-L e-Power variant (priced from $45,640), as well as an improved Digital Around View Monitor – or 360-degree camera – with 3D views, “Skeleton Hood” function and T-Junction support.

Improvements have also been made to the Qashqai’s driver assistance technology suite (now called ProPILOT+), which now includes the ability to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes, improved lane departure warning functionality and updated display graphics.

While the new digital surround view monitor is standard across the range, the advanced ProPILOT+ features are available from the Ti class onwards.

Nissan says the move to fully electrify the Qashqai range in Australia is a direct response to the Federal Government’s New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES), which reduces the CO2 target for Type 1 passenger cars from 141 to 116 g/km from January 1 this year.

While the base price has increased by around $11,000, the 2026 Nissan Qashqai ST-L e-Power is also $6,975 more expensive than the previous Qashqai ST-L MY25 with a 1.3-liter turbo gasoline engine.

Elsewhere in the range, the e-Power Ti and Ti-L variants have seen smaller price increases between $1,300 and $2,500, while the flagship N-Design e-Power is actually around $200 cheaper than before.

While there’s no full spec breakdown yet, Nissan has provided some preliminary details on standard equipment.

Specification highlights across the range include:

  • 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto
  • Wireless smartphone charger
  • NissanConnect Services
  • Nissan Intelligent Mobility security package
  • Intelligent key including proximity unlocking, travel lock
  • Dual zone climate control

The 2026 Nissan Qashqai continues to be covered by the Japanese brand’s 10-year/300,000 km conditional new vehicle warranty, which requires servicing at a Nissan dealer during this period.

Additionally, owners will receive roadside assistance for the same ten-year period when their vehicle is serviced at the brand’s national dealer network. A five-year flat-rate service program is offered for all models.

For the Nissan Qashqai MY25 range (including e-Power variants), the first five services cost $399 each.
