CheryThe local expansion of is still well underway, with the Chinese automaker expected to launch a fourth brand – iCaur – in Australia within the next 18 months.
Positioned as a young electric vehicle brand, iCaur (or iCar as it is known in China) will sit alongside Chery’s namesake brand Omoda Jacobo And Leave in the Chery ecosystem.
Chery Australia has not yet set a specific launch date, but public relations and communications director Tim Krieger says a 2027 date is most likely.
“There is certainly a lot of interest in iCaur, but we don’t have a confirmed timing,” Mr. Krieger said Daily Sparkz at the local launch of the Jaecoo J5 EV.

“It’s very likely to come, but probably not in 2026.”
The iCaur brand was first confirmed for Australia by Chery International President Zhang Guibing at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show last April.
However, Chery Australia was more reserved when asked about the launch of iCaur in August, saying: “We have no news to share about the iCaur brand in Australia, but we are continually reviewing what is available from our extensive global model ranges that Australian buyers are looking for.”
Therefore, Mr. Krieger’s recent comments indicate progress in the iCaur rollout Down Under.
The iCaur brand exclusively offers electric vehicles (EV) and range extended electric vehicles (EREVs). The four-strong lineup includes the 03, 03T and V23 compact SUVs as well as the Toyota LandCruiser-sized V27.
It’s unclear whether all four iCaur models will be offered to Australians, although the Suzuki Jimny-sized V23 is expected to be the first model in local showrooms, possibly followed by the V27.
The entry-level V23 has a single 100kW/180Nm electric motor, a 47.3kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and a range of around 301km on the mild CLTC cycle.
Dual-motor versions produce 155kW and 292Nm, while range increases to a claimed 501km thanks to an 81.8kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery.
The V27, on the other hand, is more than five meters long and uses an EREV powertrain that combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine and either one or two electric motors.
As a dual-motor all-wheel drive, the V27 offers power of up to 335 kW and an estimated electric range of 200 km (CLTC).
Omoda Jaecoo was launched in Australia last year as Chery’s second brand, with Lepas set to launch in early 2026.
In addition to iCaur, brands such as Exeed, Jetour and Karry also belong to the Chery umbrella.
Chery Australia has told it before Daily Sparkz The company’s growing family of brands aims to reach different types of shoppers, rather than creating a traditional brand ladder based on price or prestige.
