LG’s new Gram range brings the world’s lightest laptop with Nvidia RTX graphics

LG has just introduced its 2026 gram range, and the big topic of conversation right now is weight. These new Gram laptops take the idea of an ultraportable laptop further by using a newly developed material called Aerominum, which makes the chassis exceptionally light while remaining strong and durable.

It is also more scratch-resistant and meets strict military standards for durability. The result is what LG calls the world’s lightest 17-inch notebook with dedicated RTX graphics, a claim that will immediately grab attention from anyone who hates lugging around heavy gear.

What’s new with the 2026 gram laptops?

The new Gram series will be unveiled at CES 2026 and continues LG’s long history of building super-light notebooks. The product range includes the LG Gram Pro 17 and the LG Gram Pro 16 with some special innovations.

The 17-inch model is notable for combining a large 2560 x 1600 LCD display, 8GB of GDDR7 memory, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 laptop GPU in a chassis that’s similar in size to many 16-inch laptops.

According to LG, this device offers “enough performance for graphics-intensive tasks, content creation and gaming.” However, it’s unlikely to satisfy most hardcore gamers and is best suited for entry-level to mid-range gaming at 1080p. Additionally, this model will only be available in North America.

The 16-inch Pro model sets new standards as the lightest 16-inch system with on-device and cloud-based AI support. It features a 2880 x 1800 resolution OLED screen and runs on Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors, making it quick for everyday multitasking, editing, streaming and more demanding tasks.

The 16-inch Gram Pro also introduces what LG calls Dual AI functionality. This means the laptop can use its hardware to perform certain AI functions directly on the device while also accessing cloud-based AI services when you are online.

Availability and pricing have not yet been announced by LG, but the company is preparing for a full reveal at CES next week.

As CES 2026 approaches, LG is poised to dominate headlines far beyond laptops. Already teasing what could be the next big TV trend of 2026, the company also plans to launch a 27-inch 4K OLED RGB strip panel and a premium OLED TV that could eclipse mini-LEDs in peak brightness. Taken together, these announcements suggest that CES 2026 will be an important moment for LG in displays, televisions and computers.
