LG has introduced a new range of UltraGear evo gaming monitors that lean heavily on two broader themes: higher resolutions and intensive AI upscaling. The new range consists of three models: the 39-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor, another 52-inch 5K2K 240Hz gaming monitor and the 27-inch 5K Mini LED monitor.
First of all, the 39-inch GX9 (39GX950B) is a curved OLED monitor that “offers 5K-class clarity without the need for GPU upgrades,” which is how the brand expresses its full focus on AI upscaling. With real-time upscaling, AI scene optimization and AI sound, the monitor not only refines the image quality but also the sound.
Two very different approaches to the same 5K problem
The monitor features LG’s RGB Tandem OLED technology, which ensures improved brightness, color accuracy and panel longevity. Additionally, it can switch between two refresh rate and resolution configurations: 165 Hz for 5K2K and 330 Hz for WFHD. Other features of the monitor include a response time of 0.03 ms (GtG) and a pixel density of 142 PPI.
The second monitor in the lineup is the 27-inch LG UltraGear evo GM9 (27GM950B), which the company says is the world’s first 5K Min LED monitor that “dramatically” improves bloom control. For those keeping up with the news, blooming is the halo-like glow you see around the edges of most non-OLED panels (or where light and dark objects are placed nearby).
According to LG, the solution is a high-density Mini-LED local dimming system (2,304 zones), tighter backlight control and minimizing the distance between the panel and the LED, allowing bright highlights and dark areas to be illuminated more precisely. This particular monitor also features 5K AI upscaling, two refresh rate modes (165Hz on 5K and 330Hz on QHD), and a 1ms response time (GtG).
Last but not least, LG introduced the “world’s largest” 52-inch G9 5K2K gaming monitor (52G930B) (the company should really be calling it a TV at this point). With a vertical viewing height of 42 inches, a refresh rate of 240Hz and a curvature of 1000R, that is Gaming TV Also supports 5K AI upscaling.
All three UltraGear evo monitors will be unveiled at CES 2026, where LG will also announce their pricing. In addition to these devices, LG has also announced global availability of the UltraGear GX7 (27GX790B). This 27-inch gaming monitor uses tandem OLED technology and supports up to 720 Hz at HD resolution.
