The new high-tech compact from Mercedes-Benz will be hybrid.
Mercedes-Benz recently introduced a new generation of its compact four-door CLA coupe. Originally presented as a fully electric model, the CLA was the cradle of a new generation of technology for the historic luxury manufacturer: the MB.OS was introduced in the car, it also featured the fourth generation of MBUX and AI solutions from technology giants such as Microsoft and Google.
When the all-electric Mercedes-Benz CLA was first introduced, Mercedes-Benz announced that it would be followed by a hybrid variant, which has now been introduced. The new hybrid powertrain combines a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1.3 kWh to power the electric motor. Pure electric driving is possible at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour, with a total system output of 208 hp and 280 lb/ft of torque.
Like the electric Mercedes-Benz CLA, the new hybrid CLA features some of the most advanced technologies Mercedes-Benz has to offer to date, offering much of the luxury of higher-end Mercedes-Benz models in a compact model. Features like the fixed panoramic glass roof, the MBUX Superscreen and more give the CLA true Mercedes-Benz luxury while also being a small hybrid.
To distinguish the hybrid from the fully electric model, the CLA Hybrid has a special radiator grille with a standard illuminated frame and the Mercedes-Benz star pattern in chrome. Otherwise, the futuristic design of the new CLA Hybrid is visually almost identical to its fully electric counterpart. As Mercedes-Benz continues to develop its technology, both fully electric and hybrid models are part of its cutting-edge offering, as seen in the new hybrid Mercedes-Benz CLA 220.
