Armed thieves steal all five cars from a Queensland family in one night

Five cars belonging to a Gold Coast family have been recovered after they were stolen by armed thieves on a night out.

On the night of November 22, 2025 and into the early hours of the next morning, five vehicles were allegedly stolen from a home in Helensvale: a 2017 Porsche Cayenne, a 2019 Mercedes-Benz E220, a 2023 Mercedes-AMG G63, a 2024 Mercedes-Benz E300 and a 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC300.

Just days later, on November 27, Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers during a wand exercise at a shopping center in Booval in Ipswich arrested a teenager who was allegedly fleeing from them.

During the search, QPS officers allegedly found several sets of car keys and drugs, and further investigations by detectives from the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) led to the recovery of the five vehicles in Logan.

The unfortunate homeowner, identified as Sourabh, narrated A current issue On Saturday November 22, two thieves raided his home, ignoring CCTV, an alarm system and a guard dog.

They are said to have stolen two vehicles before returning later that night – around 2am – with a third accomplice and fleeing with three others.

CCTV footage showed one of the suspected thieves wearing a black face covering and gloves and appearing to be carrying several knives, one of which was allegedly used to bypass a screen door.

The QPS has charged two suspected offenders over the thefts.

A 17-year-old Mutapilly boy has been charged with several offenses including five counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of dangerous drugs, obstructing police and attempting to intentionally enter a dwelling at night while armed.

He is due to appear again at Ipswich Children’s Court on January 12.

A 22-year-old man from Forrest Hill was also arrested on November 27th. He was charged with four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of entering a dwelling and committing an indictable offence, and one count each of receiving spoiled goods, theft, trespassing and possession of dangerous drugs.

He is scheduled to appear in Richlands Magistrate Court again on January 23.

The state government of David Crisafulli, who became Queensland premier last year, launched a crackdown on juvenile offenders shortly after taking office.

The Prime Minister announced in October that 2,986 young offenders had been charged under his adult crime and adult time laws and that the number of stolen car victims had fallen by 15.6 per cent to September 30 compared to the same period last year.
