Porsche is expected to bring two new competing convertibles onto the market in the coming years – and they come from the same French brand.
Renaults low power, alpine, The company plans to offer roadster versions of its new-generation A110 and A310 sports cars by 2030, according to a new report from a British publication Autocar.
While the A110 is expected to continue the model’s legacy of low weight and agile handling, the A310 is expected to have similar proportions to the current A110 but adopt a more futuristic look and forego the retro styling of its sister model.
However, with the A110 likely to continue as a two-seater, the A310 is expected to offer up to four seats – potentially rivaling the Ford Mustang in the sports car segment, but offering a very different driving experience.

In the meantime, the new generation A110 is expected to compete with the Porsche Boxster, of which a fully electric version is currently being developed.
The addition of the A110 and A310 roadsters will help complete Alpine’s range, which will also consist of the recently released A290 hot hatch – based on the Renault 5 electric hatch – and the A390 coupe SUV available in Australia.
Alpine is also working on two larger SUVs.
The introduction of two new convertibles is quite unusual in the 2020s, as Audi has now done away with all convertibles, BMW is pulling the plug on the Z4 and Mercedes-Benz has slimmed down its convertible offering.
Electric convertibles also remain rare, with only two currently for sale in Australia: the MG Cyberster and the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore.
