The BMW Z4 Final Edition confirms the demise of the Toyota Supra’s cousin

The BMW Z4 Final Edition has been revealed, confirming the end of production of the current generation sports car in March 2026 after almost eight years on sale.

The news was highly anticipated after the cancellation of the Toyota Supra – essentially a redesigned version of the Z4 made on the same production line in Austria – was confirmed in August 2025.

Toyota Australia stopped taking orders for the GR Supra, codenamed A90, that same month, and a Supra Final Edition limited to 300 units was unveiled worldwide in November.

BMW has confirmed that the Z4 Final Edition, like the Supra Final Edition, will not be offered in Australia, marking another similarity between the two sports cars.

The swansong for the current “G29” Z4 will share its name with the last Supra. Orders for the Z4 Final Edition will open in January 2026, just weeks before production of both cars ends.

The Final Edition is not a specific model, but rather a treatment that can be applied to any Z4 as long as the vehicle has the M Sport package. This means that it is available with either four or six-cylinder engines.

The Z4 Final Edition is painted in the exclusive Frozen Matt Black paint finish – although buyers can also choose other colors from the BMW range – and features contrasting high-gloss red brake calipers and high-gloss “Shadowline” exterior trim as standard.

The red details extend into the interior, where colorful stitching visually connects the dashboard, console and door panels.
