New European Union noise regulations will reportedly mean the end of several high-performance vehicles Mercedes AMG Models… and they’re not the ones you might think.
German publication Electric car news reports that it has received an internal memo from Mercedes-Benz’s product management department dated October 20, 2025, confirming that several four-cylinder Mercedes AMG models will be canceled.
None of the German performance sub-brand’s six- or eight-cylinder vehicles are mentioned.

The document reportedly confirms the manufacture of the Mercedes AMG GLA35small SUV, theC43sports sedan,AndTheGLC43 Mid-size SUV will continue until the end of the third week of February 2026.
The more powerful Mercedes-AMG C63 SE performance limousine and GLC63 SE performance According to reports, the SUV will be produced by the end of the third week of May 2026.
The document reportedly states that the Mercedes-AMG GLA45 S is not affected and “orders can be accepted without restriction in accordance with available quotas.”
Ending production of these models would reduce Mercedes-AMG’s range of four-cylinder models by more than half.
Other four-cylinder Mercedes-AMGs not mentioned in the document include the recently introduced Mercedes-AMG GT43 Coupé and SL43 Roadster sports cars, as well as the Mercedes-AMG A35 and A45 small cars at the end of their life cycle.
As for what will replace these vehicles, the document states: “We will inform you about possible successor products in due course.”
“From July 1, 2026… the Outdoor Noise Regulation Phase 3 UN-R51.03 will come into force,” the document says.
“This leads to a reduction in external noise limits.”
While Mercedes-AMG would not comment on future products Electric car newsHowever, the company announced that it would launch “the most extensive product offensive in its history in the coming years”.
This includes not only the introduction of new high-performance electric vehicles, but also a “next-generation, high-tech electrified V8.”
The current GLA is at the end of its life cycle and a new generation model is being tested ahead of its expected unveiling in 2026. It will move to the new CLA’s MMA platform, along with the next-generation GLB and supposedly a replacement for the A-Class.
According to reports, the controversial C63 and GLC63 SE Performance models will swap their four-cylinder plug-in hybrid drive for a six-cylinder engine.
Despite having more power and torque than their twin-turbocharged V8 predecessors, the SE Performance four-cylinder variants have faced weak demand as well as intense criticism for their excessive weight and the sound they produce.
