UPDATED 12/11/2025 5:00 p.m.: Lexus Australia has issued a further statement but did not specify what the remedy for this latest recall will be, although it confirmed it would be replacing engines as part of a previous LX600 recall.
Lexus Australia is recalling almost 800 copies GX And LX large luxury off-road vehicles due to a defect in their twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engines.
“Lexus is actively developing remedies and evaluating all available options to provide our customers with a repair as quickly as possible. Our priority is to find the best possible solution for our customers,” a company spokesperson said today, November 12.
“The affected vehicles are equipped with a special V35A engine that contains crankshaft main bearings that allow the crankshaft to rotate within the engine assembly during operation,” the company said in a recall notice posted on its website.
“During a given production period, there is a possibility that engine machining debris of a certain size and quantity was not removed from the engine during manufacturing and subsequently contaminated the engine assembly during the production process.

“For these engines in the vehicles in question, due to the configuration of the engine, the pressure on the main bearings is so great that failure of the bearings can occur if the above-mentioned machining residues adhere to the bearings and the operation of the engine is continued at higher loads over time.”
“This can cause the engine to knock, the engine to run rough, the engine not to start and/or the engine to stall.
“For the vehicles in question, engine stalling while driving results in a loss of power. Loss of power to the vehicle at higher speeds can increase the risk of a collision.”
Lexus Australia has not yet confirmed exactly how it will repair the affected vehicles.
“Lexus is working on a detailed fix for all affected vehicles and will provide customers with additional details once the fix is confirmed. The fix will be free of charge to vehicle owners,” the recall notice said.
However, Lexus Australia has previously announced remediation for a previous LX600 recall.
The company announced a recall on May 31, 2024 for 184 LX600 vehicles produced between December 1, 2021 and October 31, 2022, and subsequently confirmed on February 18, 2025 that “as a precautionary measure” it would “equip all involved LX600 vehicles with a brand new engine at no charge.”
Last year, the US divisions of Toyota and Lexus confirmed that together they would replace the engines of 102,092 vehicles in this market, including 3,524 examples of the LX600 produced between 2022 and 2023.
