The new Morgan Supersport 400 is the company’s most powerful car to date and, despite its modern underpinnings, remains true to the company’s tried and tested style.
Like the regular Supersport, the 400 is powered by a BMW “B58” 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine.
While the standard Supersport produces 250kW and 500Nm, the 400 has a more powerful variant with 300kW – or 402PS, hence the name – and 500Nm.

The performance-enhanced engine drives the rear wheels via a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to its bonded aluminum platform, the car weighs just 1170 kg.
This allows the Supersport 400 to complete the 0-100km/h sprint in a claimed 3.6 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds quicker than the regular Supersport. The top speed increased from 23 km/h to 290 km/h.
A new active high-flow exhaust system is said to produce a “distinct and targeted soundtrack” while being refined.
To handle the extra power, the Supersport 400 comes standard with the Dynamic Handling Pack, which includes adjustable Nitron dampers with 24 settings and revised suspension tuning.
The 400 rides on lighter 19-inch Sportlite forged alloy wheels in silver or optional dark bronze. Regardless of color, they are equipped with 255/40 Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires.
Other visual changes include air vents at the top of the front wheel arches and a glossy silk gray finish for the lower bodywork. New paint colors include Forged Grey, Silk Silver, Sail Silver and Horizon Blue. A gray hardtop is an optional extra, as are coral accents for the exterior graphics, brake calipers and cabin inlay veneers.
Inside, the 400 features a unique stitching pattern for the doors, seats and transmission tunnel trim. While leather is standard, buyers can now opt for a variety of faux suede options, including single and two-tone, as well as a mix of leather and faux suede finishes.
Production of the Supersport 400 begins in May and prices in the UK start at £112,965 (A$213,500) before taxes and on-road costs.
