The Ford Mustang Dark Horsewill return to Australian showrooms with a Supercars tie-up involving Triple Eight Race Engineering, operator of the Red Bull Ampol Racing team.
Ford Australia has confirmed 500 Dark Horse coupes priced from $104,990 before on-roads, along with 250 examples equipped with the ‘T8 Spec Pack’ priced from $138,888 before on-roads.
The T8-Spec package is assembled locally at Ford Australia’s Broadmeadows Plant 2 in Melbourne – the same site where the 2019 Mustang R-Spec was manufactured and which is part of Ford’s previous production facilities which ended in 2016.
The order books are now open, with the first deliveries expected in the fourth quarter of 2026 (October to December).

“By partnering with Triple Eight Race Engineering, we have created a vehicle that not only celebrates our racing heritage, but offers our most passionate customers a world-first, bespoke, numbered collectible vehicle that has been brought to perfection here in Melbourne,” said Ford Australia marketing director Ambrose Henderson.
The original Mustang Dark Horse launched in Australia in 2023, priced from $99,102 (before on-road costs) for the manual transmission and $103,002 for the automatic transmission.
In comparison, the current Mustang GT costs $84,990 (excluding on-road costs).
For 2026, the Dark Horse continues with the naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 “Coyote” engine, producing 350kW of power and 550Nm of torque.
Buyers can choose between a Tremec six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission at no additional cost, both featuring a Torsen limited-slip differential and MagneRide adaptive suspension.
Visual upgrades include a unique front grille, 19-inch Tarnish Dark alloy wheels, matching rear wing details and black quad exhaust pipes.
Three new colors – Molten Magenta, Orange Fury and Adriatic Blue – join the palette, with Oxford White and Race Red being the only paint finishes that do not incur a $975 Prestige paint surcharge.
An optional appearance package priced at $3,575 includes black hood graphics, a black roof and Notorious Blue brake calipers and is limited to Shadow Black, Vapor Blue and Adriatic Blue exterior paint finishes. Blue Ember can only be ordered in conjunction with this optics package.
The T8 Spec Package pays homage to the Red Bull Ampol Racing team, which leads the 2026 Repco Supercars Teams Championship after switching from Chevrolet Camaro to Ford Mustang race cars this season.
Broc Feeney currently leads the drivers’ standings in the team’s No. 88 Mustang.
All 250 T8 Spec Pack vehicles include a track experience at Queensland Raceway, hosted by Triple Eight Race Engineering, with Ford vehicles.
The road-going special edition is only available with the Tremec six-speed manual transmission and features bespoke Triple Eight branding, including hood and trunk logos, as well as a Grabber Blue rear wing insert.
It also features 19-inch black alloy wheels with wider 10.5-inch front and 11-inch rear wheels shod with 305/30R19 and 315/30R19 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tires.
Suspension upgrades include revised MagneRide tuning, stiffer springs and anti-roll bars, and adjustable top mounts.
The interior features Triple Eight door sills, blue door panel accents and a blue accented gear selector with T8 logo, while the standard Recaro sport seats have blue bolsters. These Recaro sport seats are a $3,835 option on the regular Dark Horse.
Each of the 250 T8 Spec Pack vehicles will feature an individually numbered plaque on the passenger side of the dashboard.
