Looking for an escape from the Austin heat? We feel you! While scorching temperatures are common in Las Vegas, a stay here offers luxury restaurants, pools and suites, as well as world-class shows and air-conditioned casinos on every corner. A trip to Las Vegas gives Austinites the perfect excuse to escape the familiar Texas heat and immerse themselves in a different kind of heat—one with plenty of glamour.
We recently traveled to Sin City to stay at The Venetian and we’re here to tell you that this resort is smoking hot in every way.
That’s why you should plan the most glamorous trip to The Venetian Las Vegas!
What to expect
Can we talk about the architecture for a moment? Staying at the Venetian is like staying in a museum. It’s absolutely gorgeous, which only makes the experience even more glamorous.
Here are a few things to keep in mind. There aren’t many outlets or charging stations in the room, so be prepared. Also, make sure to pick up complimentary bottles of water upon check-in as only expensive bottled water is available in the room. Plus, the resort is huge and it often takes 10 to 20 minutes on foot to reach your destination. So make sure you leave enough time to make reservations or meet up with friends.
Where you can eat and drink
With over 40 dining options, some featuring celebrity chefs, the resort has everything you could want, all right on site. We tried out a variety of their offerings and found our favorites in each one.
First up is Gjelina. The SoCal staple is known nationwide for its locally sourced fare. Favorites include beets and burrata, tomahawk and pizzas.
Nomikai is another great place for food, but also perfect for drinks. Their handcrafted cocktails and lively atmosphere ensure elegance whether you’re starting or ending your evening. Be sure to grab the Ube Espresso Martini.
We recommend Bouchon for brunch. Known for their modern take on French cuisine, they serve bistro classics like avocado toast, crab Benedict, smoked salmon, quiche and more – all with an upscale twist. Be sure to ask about special offers. When we visited they offered lobster rolls and they were delicious!
Visit the Food Hall
If you’re looking for a little bit of everything, try the brand new food hall Via Via. The space brings East and West Coast foodie hotspots directly to Las Vegas.
No matter how hot it is, Howlin’ Ray’s wants to bring families, friends and newcomers together to enjoy a meal together and feel the heat. I’m here to tell you that this chicken is hot, hot, hot. I couldn’t even handle the mild one. Although I loved the plains!
However, if you’re looking for something with a kick and a little sweet, I love the HOTBOI pizza at Scarr Pimentel. It is garnished with beef pepperoni, jalapeños and Mike’s Hot Honey.
All’Antico Vinaio is a legendary Florentine sandwich shop known for its delicious and authentic Tuscan schiacciata sandwiches. The favorite here is the La Broadway, which includes pistachio cream, stracciatella, sun-dried tomatoes and arugula.
Los Angeles-based BS Taqueria offers creative twists on classic tacos, while Ivan Ramen’s menu is full of inventive, playful izakaya-style dishes that reflect the fun and adventurous spirit of Japanese cuisine.
And finally, our favorite by far is New Orleans’ own Turkey and the Wolf. I stopped by four times during my trip. I even ordered food to put in my carry-on and eat when I returned to Austin. The frozen espresso martini is a no-brainer. You MUST try it. When it comes to food, however, the chicken pot pie blew me away. It is a handheldcrescent-shaped, crispy pastry with a soft filling, stuffed with slow-cooked chicken and served with a creamy buttermilk tarragon dipping sauce. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
If you’re simply looking for a drink, try Speakeasy Close Company at Via Via Food Hall. From the founders of Death & Co, one of the most influential bars in the modern craft cocktail movement, Close Company offers approachable yet creatively unique cocktails. This is the first location for this new concept. Additional launches are planned in Nashville and Atlanta, making it a must-see for travelers and locals.
Other things to do
The casino goes without saying. However, if you are not a player, there are plenty of other things to do. The resort has 10 pools, including the adults-only TAO Beach Club. If you’re more of a spa fan, you can book some time at Canyon Ranch Spa & Fitness. There are special saunas, emotional showers and first-class treatments. In addition, hotel guests have access to the gym with a huge climbing wall. Individual fitness classes are available for a fee, as is a combined fitness and spa access pass (around $50), which allows for more extensive use of facilities such as saunas and relaxation lounges
The Palazzo Theater is home to close-up card magician and America’s Got Talent winner Shin Lim. Voltaire presents the Queen of BurlesqueDita Von Teese. Ashlee Simpson will perform her comeback concert here in August and September 2025.
The Venetian is also The Sphere’s hotel partner and hosts afterparties for acts like Backstreet Boys. Later in 2025, The Eagles and Zac Brown Band are coming to The Sphere. The full schedule for The Sphere can be found here.
Other entertainment options include a ride on one of the famous gondolas, a visit to Madam Tussauds, a drink at the Minus5 Ice Experience or simply strolling the Strip and discovering where the day or night takes you.
Pro tip: Wear your hiking shoes! When exploring, please note that despite the central location, it may be a bit of a walk to get to other popular hotels and venues on the Strip.
