The OnePlus Pad 4 is a solid iPad antidote for Android fans and is about to launch

For Android users who have always viewed the iPad with envy, the OnePlus Pad 4 is shaping up to be a very compelling antidote – and it’s not hard to see why. OnePlus is introducing its next flagship tablet as an ultra-slim, keyboard-friendly, big-screen device that can handle work, streaming and gaming without feeling like an oversized spinoff.

And with the official release scheduled for April 30, 2026, it won’t stay in teaser territory for much longer.

How the OnePlus Pad 4 makes it big

Looking at the spec sheet, the OnePlus Pad 4 sounds exactly what Android tablet fans have been waiting for. It features a 13.2-inch 3.4K display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 512GB of internal storage. OnePlus also promises a huge 13,380mAh battery, the largest battery it has ever put in a tablet. Combine this with 80W fast charging and you get reduced downtime.

Too many Android tablets still feel like they’re either built to undercut the iPad on price or that they exist only as oversized companion screens. So it’s great to see another solid premium offering alongside Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S series.

Android users might actually want the iPad alternative.

If you’re going for an Android alternative to Apple iPads, the design is a simple compromise to make it a cheaper option. But both hardware and software help ensure that the Pad 4 remains usable as an entry-level flagship. The slim metal unibody ensures a premium feel, while productivity is improved with better multitasking, a more PC-like workflow, cross-device connectivity and OnePlus AI tools.

Add to that the OnePlus Stylo Pro and the smart keyboard, which clearly makes the tablet more than just a platform for watching Netflix.

The biggest question is still the price

The price details will of course be an important decision factor here. If the price makes sense, the OnePlus Pad 4 can be the iPad solution for Android fans. Given the solid 12GB LPDDR5X RAM offering, a price increase over the OnePlus Pad 3 ($699 at launch) is almost guaranteed and could reignite the “just buy an iPad” discussion. Since OnePlus has only confirmed launch details and not full pricing yet, that part still hangs over the entire story.

Still, given what OnePlus has already revealed, the Pad 4 looks to be one of the strongest Android tablet launches of the year. At least if the pricing doesn’t get out of hand.
