Crimson Desert fans face a strange, bloodthirsty problem

Crimson Desert has a new late game problem, and it’s pretty funny. The true warriors among players are not satisfied with the peaceful silence after the game is over.

Some people who have spent hundreds of hours playing Pearl Abyss’ sprawling open-world RPG are starting to complain that the world has become “too peaceful” because they have effectively wiped out most enemies in certain areas. One player quoted by IGN said that after more than 100 hours in certain zones, it had become too peaceful to properly test endgame builds and upgraded gear.

When “too much play” becomes a real problem

This seems like a strange complaint at first, but it says a lot about how people are currently playing Crimson Desert. It’s only been a few weeks since the game came out, but some of the most dedicated players have already put in enough time to push the limits of enemy density and persistence. This appears to be due to players completing missions and clearing large portions of the map so thoroughly that the world becomes unusually quiet.

None of this happens in a small role-playing game. Even though Crimson Desert is so huge, many players are still stuck in the first region even after more than 100 hours. That’s why these “nothing left to kill” complaints seem bizarre and a little impressive at the same time.

A strange complaint, but not a bad sign

For the average player, this doesn’t seem to be a problem. Rather, this is more of a side effect of the most dedicated fans, who have exhausted certain areas of the large open world faster than most people ever would. However, it still raises an interesting question as to how Pearl Abyss wants its world to behave in the long term.

As players build stronger endgame loadouts, they also need enough worthwhile enemies to actually use them. While most open-world games are criticized for throwing too many enemies at players, this seems to be an issue where the studio needs to add a few more.
