MG has released a full list of features and specifications for its new small electric hatch on its website MG 4 EV Urbanthat opens at $31,990 for the car trip.
It comes in two variants – one with a 43kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, the other with a 54kWh battery – but both are available in Essence trim.
In MG parlance, “Essence” means top of the range, which may leave the door open for less well-equipped variants at a lower price in the future.

MG has not yet released pricing for the range-topping Essence 54 model, although the MG 4 EV Urban will be available in local showrooms from April.
The new MG beats the GWM Ora, which currently retails at $33,990 on-road, and the GAC Aion UT, which costs $31,990 before on-road costs but is temporarily available on-road for $30,990. The BYD Dolphin starts at $29,990 (excluding on-road costs).
Unlike the existing MG 4, which offers a choice of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the MG 4 EV Urban will only be available as a front-wheel drive single-motor electric vehicle (EV).
It is 4395 mm long, 1842 mm wide, 1551 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2750 mm. This makes it 108 mm longer, 6 mm wider and up to 47 mm higher than the existing MG 4, with a 45 mm longer wheelbase.
The MG 4 EV Urban rides on the Chinese automaker’s new E3 platform and features a torsion beam rear suspension instead of an independent multi-link suspension like the MG 4.
The company previously confirmed that the MG 4 EV Urban would sit alongside an updated version of the existing MG 4, which would lose its 51kWh and 77kWh batteries and only offer a 64kWh package.
