JLR Australia is recalling over 200 copies Jaguar I Pace The electric SUV, which has now been discontinued, could catch fire, but there is still no permanent solution.
“Due to a software problem, the cell modules installed in the high-voltage battery can overheat when the charge level is high. In this case, cabin smoke or a vehicle fire could occur,” the company says in the recall notice.
“Note: As a temporary solution, software will be installed to keep the battery charge level below 90% until a permanent solution is found.
“Cabin smoke or a vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders and/or property damage.”

If you own an affected vehicle, you will need to make an appointment with an authorized JLR dealer to have the new software installed.
“Until repairs are completed, JLR asks consumers to limit loading capacity to 90 percent and park the vehicle outdoors to maintain adequate clearance from property and/or other vehicles,” the company says.
