Tesla is once again offering a three-row SUV for Australian customers.
The Tesla model YL is based on the popular Model Y mid-size electric SUV – Australia’s best-selling electric vehicle (EV), but expanded to accommodate a third row of seats.
Orders for the six-seat YL model are open now, with deliveries beginning in the second quarter (April to June) of 2026.

It’s available in a single Premium AWD trim and costs $74,900 (excluding on-road costs) – $6,000 more than the Model Y Premium Long Range AWD.
The two third-row seats have heating, ISOFIX and top tether anchor points for child seats, air vents and USB-C ports; They can also be folded flat with the push of a button.
The Model YL replaces the Model Y’s second-row bench seat with a pair of captain’s chairs that are heated, ventilated and power adjustable. There’s still an 8.0-inch entertainment screen here, as well as vents, USB-C ports, and ISOFIX and top tether anchor points.
Aside from the stretched body, other signs that this is a Model YL and not a regular Model Y include the unique 19-inch alloy wheel design and exclusive Cosmic Silver exterior paint. The Model YL also features a rear spoiler inspired by the Model Y Performance.
The YL model is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing 378kW/590Nm.
Tesla hasn’t revealed the battery’s capacity, but with a range of 681 km on the WLTP cycle, this represents a big jump over the Model Y Premium Long Range AWD’s 600 km.
The YL model debuts Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for Tesla in Australia and New Zealand, capable of delivering 3.3 kW of output power to external electrical devices or systems via an available adapter.
It also features continuously variable damping with two selectable modes: Balanced or Rear Comfort.
There are few electric SUVs under $100,000 with a third row of seats. The only competition for the Model YL currently is the smaller Mercedes-Benz EQB and the larger Kia EV9 – both of which are more expensive, with starting prices of $90,000 and $97,000 respectively before on-road launch.
