BMW has announced local pricing for the all-new model iX3 Electric SUV – the first representative of the German car manufacturer’s “Neue Klasse” series.
The 2026 iX3 will be available in single-motor and dual-motor 50 xDrive trim levels $109,900 before on-road costs when it lands on Australian soil, alternative battery and motor combinations will be available early next year.
This undercuts direct competitors such as the Audi Q6 e-tron quattro, the Porsche Macan 4, the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor and the Genesis Electrified GV70, all of which cost between $120,000 and $140,000 (excluding on-road costs). However, the heavily discounted Cadillac Lyriq remains the cheapest on offer.
The new-generation iX3 is also just $5,000 more expensive than the previous model in the top-spec single-motor trim.

The new iX3 is arguably BMW’s most important model in years, ushering in a new generation of vehicles that embody significant changes in technology, design and production processes.
All versions of the iX3 “Neue Klasse” are equipped with BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, providing more power, greater efficiency and range, as well as superior charging speed.
In 50 xDrive form, BMW’s mid-size electric SUV features a twin-motor electric drive with 345 kW and 645 Nm, paired with a 108 kWh battery.
The new model also promises a WLTP tested range of 805km – the longest range of any new vehicle currently sold in Australia. An 800 V on-board electrical system supports DC fast charging with up to 400 kW.
The “Heart of Joy,” as BMW calls it, is one of the iX3’s four high-performance computers, so-called “Superbrains,” and is responsible for drive and driving dynamics management. According to BMW, it processes information up to ten times faster than conventional control units.
The interior represents a dramatic departure from existing BMW models, showcasing BMW Panoramic iDrive and a minimalist design language for the first time.
A huge 43.3-inch BMW Panoramic Vision display stretches across the bottom of the windshield, projecting driving information into the driver’s line of sight. The content in the center and on the opposite side of the display can be configured via the touchscreen.
An additional head-up display projects information via the new column-to-column display.
The control center of the iX3 is a large 17.9-inch infotainment touchscreen with BMW Operating System X.
While potential buyers won’t be able to purchase the 50 xDrive until launch, an entry-level rear-wheel-drive iX3 40 model is due to launch next year, followed by a sportier model branded iX3 M60.
A full-fledged four-motor iX3 M is also reportedly in the works, although its launch date is unclear.
