The occupants of an electric BYD have survived a ballistic missile attack in Israel, with the small SUV withstanding the force of the projectile that hit the ground right next to it.

The Atto 3’s lithium iron phosphate battery “Blade” was not damaged, and the passenger compartment appeared to have withstood the force of the explosion.

According to the information, five people were taken to hospital The Times of Israel: two “slightly injured” by the impact; two who were treated for acute anxiety; and the driver, who suffered “moderate” shrapnel injuries. It is understood that these five people were all in the BYD.
According to reports, the driver of Atto 3 suffered a head injury when he stopped short of the crater rim while driving.
Although the Atto 3 was not directly hit by the missile, it protected its occupants from the blast waves, flying shrapnel and other impacts of an adjacent strike.
The doors could also be opened so that the rescue workers could get the vehicle occupants out safely.
The BYD Atto 3, which is about to undergo a major upgrade, has a five-star rating from Australia’s independent safety agency ANCAP, based on testing in 2022.
It received an adult protection rating of 91 percent, a child protection rating of 84 percent, a vulnerable road user protection rating of 69 percent and a safety assistance rating of 80 percent.
